Erica Larsen was born and raised on a feedlot north of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. After graduating from Mitchell High school she majored in fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. While there, Erica was on honor roll, involved in the arts league and volunteered her artistic abilities in Tri Delta, her sorority. After two years in Lincoln Erica transferred to The Art Institute of Phoenix where she graduated with a bachelor of arts in Media Arts and Animation. While she attended the Art Institute Erica was involved in the Siggraph Student Chapter, the Student Activities Club, both where she served as president, the President’s Club and the Arts Club that she founded to further inspire a dedication to the fine arts in Phoenix, AZ. Erica also volunteered for Make a Difference as a mural art director and has three murals on Phoenician walls. Because of her work tutoring and involvement at school she received an opportunity to apply for an internship at Rainbow Studios two semesters early. Erica was one of the chosen two applicants. At Rainbow Erica worked on high end industry leading animations and gained invaluable knowledge about her field.
Shortly before Erica graduated with honors in 2003 she was hired at Fuel Studios as a motion graphics artist. While working there she worked on high end projects for BMW, a music video for the band Cirrus that was broadcast on MTV2, and local video projects. After the unexpected death of her father Dallas, Erica finished up working at Fuel through the fall of 2004 and headed back home to Scottsbluff to be with family. Since returning Erica donated her time and talent into the coordination as well as provided artwork that was implemented into the structure of a new ticket booth at the Scotts Bluff County Fair in memorial of her father. She also became a member of the Platte Valley Artist Guild where she participated in different committees.
For work she freelanced graphic design, web and video work for Paige One Promotions as well as other clients in and out of the region. In the fall of 2005 Erica was hired as the art instructor at Haig school and taught art through the school year. In the fall of 2005 she started her own business, “eekart” that she continues to produce creative services as well as fine art through. In June 2006 Erica was hired as the art instructor of the Upward Bound Program at WNCC and shortly after for the Midwest Theater as a conservator painter. At the theater Erica worked with employees of Evergreen Studios, an international conservatory studio based in New York City, NY.
Currently Erica is a non-degree graduate student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln studying art and art history. Aside from being a part-time student, Erica is involved with the Sheldon student docent program and is employed at the University as an associate interactive media developer where she works on different departmental websites for University Communications. Erica plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska.
